Canada factory sales drop 0.8 percent in April

(Reuters) - Canadian factory sales declined 0.8 percent in April from March, but most of this could be explained by fluctuations in the volatile aerospace industry and by temporary oil refinery shutdowns, according to Statistics Canada data on Friday.

The dip in shipments was the third in four months, as sales fell in 13 of 21 industries, representing about 45 percent of the manufacturing sector. Conversely, motor vehicle assembly sales rose to the highest level since November 2007.
