NEW YORK (Reuters) - Verizon Wireless said on Wednesday that it sold 1 million units of the BlackBerry Storm phone made by Research In Motion RIM.TO from the time of its launch on November 21 and January 27.
Verizon Wireless, a venture of Verizon Communications (VZ.N) and Vodafone Group Plc (VOD.L), is the exclusive U.S. provider for the first touchscreen version of RIM's popular BlackBerry devices, which are used for email on-the-go.
The device competes with iPhone from Apple Inc (AAPL.O). AT&T Inc (T.N), the exclusive U.S. carrier for iPhone said earlier on Wednesday that it activated 1.9 million iPhones customers to its network in the fourth quarter.
