(Reuters) - Gold miner Aurizon Mines (ARZ.TO) reported a nearly six-fold jump in third-quarter profit, helped by surging gold prices and higher output at Casa Berardi, its key producing mine in Quebec.
For the July-September period, Aurizon earned C$13.1 million, or 8 Canadian cents a share, compared with C$2.3 million, or 1 Canadian cent a share, a year ago.
Revenue rose 71 percent to C$68 million.
Gold production jumped 49 percent to 44,457 ounces in the quarter.
Shares of the Vancouver, British Columbia-based company closed at C$6.02 on Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
