CANADA STOCKS-TSX edges higher on steady commodity prices

TORONTO, March 23 (Reuters) - Toronto's resource-heavy main stock index opened slightly higher on Friday, lifted by firmness in materials and energy issues on higher underlying oil and gold prices.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index rose 6.29 points, or 0.05 percent, at 12,368.10 at the open.
