CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens lower as gold miners weigh

TORONTO, Oct 18 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened
lower on Thursday as the materials group, weighed by falling
gold stocks, led the market into negative territory.
    The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index
 was down 29.44 points, or 0.24 percent, at 12,431.81.
Eight of the index's 10 main groups were lower.
