TORONTO, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened
modestly higher on Thursday following hints that global growth
engine China is eyeing new support for its economy, while U.S.
data did little to change investors' view of the recovery.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index
opened up 12.80 points, or 0.11 percent, to 11,918.24.
