CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens higher as U.S. claims data supports

TORONTO, April 18 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index
opened higher on Thursday, recovering from a selloff in the
previous session, as U.S. jobless claims data helped drive gains
in almost all major sectors.
    The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index
 was up 53.49 points, or 0.45 percent, at 12,000.78
shortly after the open.
