Toronto stocks open little changed, financials dip

1 Min Read

TORONTO, April 14 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index was little changed after the opening bell on Monday, as weaker financial shares offset gains in the energy sector.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE edged down 11.78 points, or 0.09 percent, at 13,671.25 with six of its 10 main sectors lower.

The energy sector gained 0.4 percent, boosted by a bounce in oil prices.

But the financial sector was off 0.4 percent, caught up in more fallout from the credit squeeze south of the border after Wachovia Corp WB.N reported an unexpected first-quarter loss. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Peter Galloway)
