TORONTO, July 8 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock market index was lower shortly after the open on Friday as U.S. June jobs data disappointed heavily, sending energy shares tumbling with the price of oil.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 45.23 points at 13,360.77, after a brief pop at the open. Nine of 10 main groups were lower, with the oil and gas group off nearly 1 percent. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; Editing by James Dalgleish)
