Toronto stocks slide on oil firms, Nortel
TORONTO Feb 27 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index stumbled off the start on Wednesday, led lower by Nortel Networks Corp NT.TO and energy firms.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 31.48 points, or 0.2 percent, at 13,765.53.
Nine of the index's 10 main groups were in the red, with energy companies down 0.3 percent and the information technology sector off 3.2 percent.
Nortel, which on Wednesday reported a steel loss in the last quarter, tumbled C$1.38 to C$9.83. Leading the energy group lower was EnCana ECA.TO, down 47 Canadian cents at C$73.38.
