CANADA STOCKS-TSX rises 1 pct on China stimulus hopes

TORONTO, May 29 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index rose sharply on Tuesday as oil and mining firms were lifted by hopes of further policy stimulus in China, helping markets shrug off concerns over the deterioration of Spain’s banking system.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index extended gains, up 116.70 points, or 1 percent, to 11,682.85.
