CANADA STOCKS-TSX edges up; China hopes offset Barrick, Cameco slide

TORONTO, Nov 1 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index edged
higher on Thursday as positive economic data from China offset
drops in heavyweight miners Barrick Gold Corp and
Cameco Corp after they reported results.
    The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index
 rose 5.4 points, or 0.04 pct, to 12,428.31 shortly
after the open.
