CALGARY, Alberta Dec 30 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index finished higher for the second time in as many days on Tuesday as a broad-based rally offset weakness in mining shares due to lower gold prices.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 195.57 points, or 2.26 percent, at 8,832.86. (Reporting by Jeffrey Jones; editing by Rob Wilson)
