Toronto stocks up 100 pts on U.S. rate cut hopes

TORONTO, Dec 10 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock market index jumped 100 points by mid-morning on Monday as investors bet on a U.S. interest rate cut later in the week and as higher gold prices boosted gold shares.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 100.66 points, or 0.7 percent, at 13,963.63. ($1=$1.00 Canadian) (Reporting by Scott Anderson; Editing by Bernadette Baum)
