Toronto stocks end lower in broad-based slump

TORONTO, Dec 17 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index closed broadly lower on Monday in a sharp sell-off prompted by declining resource shares and persisting worries over the health of the U.S. economy.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 283.88 points, or 2.08 percent, at 13,390.35. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Peter Galloway)
