Toronto stock index dives 400 pts on economy worry

TORONTO, Jan 23 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index extended its fall on Wednesday afternoon, sliding 400 points amid recurrent fears of a U.S. recession and weakening commodity prices.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 401.14 points, or 3.17 percent, at 12,239.74. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Peter Galloway)
