TORONTO, March 4 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index trimmed losses but ended lower on Tuesday amid a selloff in financial and materials shares as commodity prices fell and quarterly results from two major banks disappointed.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 70.35 points, or 0.52 percent, at 13,474.03. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Peter Galloway)
