Toronto stocks slammed by resource shares

TORONTO, March 19 (Reuters) - A sharp drop in resource shares hammered the Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index on Wednesday, sparked by a selloff in commodities amid concern that demand could be weakened by U.S. economic woes.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 415.33 points, or 3.16 percent, at 12,721.37. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; editing by Rob Wilson)
