Toronto stock index skids on recession worries

TORONTO, April 11 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index shed more than 200 points on Friday, caught up in deepening worries for a weak earnings season and another sign the United States may be sliding into a recession.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 219.81 points, or 1.58 percent, at 13,689.77. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; editing by Rob Wilson)
