Toronto stocks surge on robust resources

TORONTO, April 16 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index closed at a more than five-month high on Wednesday, buoyed by rising resources and gains by fertilizer companies after a surge in the price of potash exports to China.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 242.50 points, or 1.75 percent, at 14,093.45. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; editing by Rob Wilson)
