Toronto stocks hit record close, lifted by EnCana
TORONTO May 12 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index ended at an unofficial record high close on Monday, buoyed by energy shares as EnCana's plan to split itself boosted speculation of similar moves from other companies in the sector.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 147.31 points, or 1.01 percent, at 14,668.50. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Peter Galloway)
