Toronto stocks taken lower by weak energy shares

TORONTO, July 7 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index slid 100 points on Monday, weighed down by energy shares that were knocked lower by a sharp retreat in oil prices.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 100.02 points, or 0.71 percent, at 13,910.37 at midday. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; editing by Rob Wilson)
