TORONTO, July 11 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index dropped 100 points on Friday, erasing gains made earlier in the session, as financial shares reacted to deepening anxiety in the United States over the fate of mortgage giants Freddie Mac FRE.N and Fannie Mae FNM.N.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 100.93 points, or 0.73 percent, at 13,642.95. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Peter Galloway)
