Toronto stocks rise 1.5 percent on TransAlta, banks
TORONTO, July 21 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index jumped more than 200 points late on Monday morning, boosted by a possible takeover of TransAlta Corp TA.TO and better-than-expected results from Bank of America (BAC.N: Quote).
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 201.98 points, or 1.49 percent, at 13,717.94. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Peter Galloway)
