Toronto stocks rise on boost from resources

TORONTO, July 25 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index climbed 1 percent on Friday, as resource shares rose despite a drop in oil, as investors were heartened by strong earnings this week from the energy and materials sectors.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 179.21 points, or 1.36 percent, at 13,385.35. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; editing by Rob Wilson)
