TORONTO Aug 1 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index tumbled 100 points on Friday afternoon, as materials shares fell and a warning from Nortel Networks NT.TO over a tough U.S. market dragged the tech sector down.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 103.95 points, or 0.76 percent, at 13,488.96. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Peter Galloway)
