Toronto stocks surge on U.S. mortgage bailout plan
TORONTO, Sept 8 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index soared 300 points at the open on Monday, jolted higher by the bailout of U.S. home mortgage giants Fannie Mae FNM.N and Freddie Mac FRE.N.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 300.46 points, or 2.3 points, at 13,116.88. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Scott Anderson)
