Toronto stocks plunge as Lehman fails, oil drops

TORONTO, Sept 15 (Reuters) - The main index of the Toronto Stock Exchange’s plunged almost 500 points on Monday in a broad selloff triggered by the failure of Wall Street investment bank Lehman Brothers LEH.N and a big drop in the price of oil.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE fell 488.58 points, or 3.83 percent, to unofficially close at 12,281.00. (Reporting by Wojtek Dabrowski; editing by Peter Galloway)
