Toronto stock index soars 4 percent
TORONTO, Sept 18 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index soared 500 points in early trading on Thursday on strength in resource and financial stocks after central banks around the world poured in $180 billion in extra liquidity to ease jittery markets.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 505.67 points, or 4.23 percent, at 12,380.36. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Peter Galloway)
