Toronto stocks sink 7 pct as U.S. bailout rejected

TORONTO, Sept 29 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index plunged more than 900 points on Monday as the U.S. House of Representatives rejected a $700 billion Wall Street bailout plan, sending investors fleeing for the exits.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 900.33 points, or 7.42 percent, at 11,225.67 by late afternoon. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; editing by Rob Wilson)
