Toronto stocks retreat with oil prices
TORONTO Oct 1 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index ended lower on Wednesday as oil prices dropped, but it finished well off its lows on optimism that U.S. lawmakers will likely pass the financial rescue package this week.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE ended unofficially down 48.03 points, or 0.41 percent, at 11,704.87. (Reporting by Cameron French; Editing by Peter Galloway)
