Toronto index drops almost 7 pct as fertilizers dive

TORONTO, Oct 2 (Reuters) - The benchmark index of the Toronto Stock Exchange fell almost 7 percent on Thursday to its lowest level in more than two years, depressed by concerns over the outlook for fertilizer producers and a drop in oil and gold prices.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE plunged 785.69 points, or 6.71 percent, to 10,928.82. (Reporting by Wojtek Dabrowski; editing by Peter Galloway)
