TORONTO Oct 6 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index tumbled 800 points on Monday morning, led by a drop in energy stocks as crude oil prices slid, and hurt by a Bank of Nova Scotia forecast of a recession in Canada.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 801.07 points, or 7.42 percent, at 10,002.28, and soon after fell below 10,000 for the first time since July 2005. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Peter Galloway)
