Toronto stock index falls 1 percent after open

TORONTO, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Canada’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE fell more than 100 points at market open on Thursday as weakening commodity prices put yet another chill on the heavily-weighted energy and materials sectors.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE slipped 119.47 points, or 1.28 percent, to 9,204.38. ($1=$1.19 Canadian) (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; Editing by James Dalgleish)
