Toronto stock index sinks 2.2 pct at the open

TORONTO, Oct 17 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index sank 200 points just after the market open on Friday as falling gold prices and recession worries took hold once again.

The S&P/TSX composite index was down 203.00 points, or 2.2 percent, at 9,066.97. ($1=$1.19 Canadian) (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; Editing by Peter Galloway)
