Toronto stocks tumble on resource demand fears

TORONTO, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index plunged on Tuesday as energy and materials stocks fell on weak underlying prices due to fears a global recession will cut demand.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 480.43 points, or 4.69 percent, to 9,770.97 (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; editing by Peter Galloway)
