CANADA STOCKS-Toronto index tumbles on resources

TORONTO, Oct 22 (Reuters) - Toronto Stock Exchange's main index tumbled more than 5 percent on Wednesday afternoon as resource issues fell along with underlying commodity prices on concerns a global economic slowdown will cut demand.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 500.16 points, or 5.11 percent, at 9,295.64. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; editing by Rob Wilson)
