CANADA STOCKS-Toronto index falls 100 points

TORONTO, Oct 23 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index fell 100 points midday on Thursday as recession fears pressured mining and financial stocks, offsetting strength in energy issues, which rose on higher oil prices and strong quarterly results from oil companies.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 103.53 points, or 1.12 percent, to 9,133.35 (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Peter Galloway)
