CANADA STOCKS-Late-day bargain-hunting spurs higher close

TORONTO, Oct 23 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index fought back to close higher on Thursday on late-day bargain-hunting after being down most of the day on recession fears.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 57.26 points, or 0.62 percent, at 9,294.14. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Peter Galloway)
