CANADA STOCKS-Weak banks, oils pull TSX to lower close

TORONTO, Dec 9 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index fell on Tuesday as the Bank of Canada’s acknowledgment that the country is entering a recession weighed on heavily weighted financial shares while lower oil prices shook the energy sector.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 178.79 points, or 2.09 percent, at 8,388.33, with eight of its 10 sectors ending lower. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Peter Galloway)
