CANADA STOCKS-TSX rebounds on hope for U.S. automaker aid

TORONTO, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index turned positive on Friday as the potential for a last-ditch effort by the White House and U.S. Treasury to aid automakers helped erase a slide of nearly 282 points just after the open.

At 11:07 a.m. (1607 GMT) the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 3.38 points at 8,395.28, with three of its 10 sectors in positive territory. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Peter Galloway)
