CANADA STOCKS-TSX sinks 300 points as oil price weighs

TORONTO Dec 18 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index fell more than 3 percent on Thursday morning on weakness in energy stocks as oil prices slid below $40 a barrel.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 302.17 points, or 3.46 percent, at 8,421.94. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; editing by Peter Galloway)
