CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens lower, energy up despite oil fall
TORONTO Jan 2 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened lower on Friday on broadbased weakness, led by declining financials. Energy issues advanced despite a drop in the price of oil.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE fell 37.93 points, or 0.42 percent, to 8,949.77. Eight of the index's 10 main groups were lower.
