TORONTO Jan 12 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index tumbled at the open on Monday as nagging concerns that a global recession will sap energy consumption shook energy prices and weighed on the resource heavy index

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 116.76 points, or 1.29 percent, at 8,968.42 at the open. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Peter Galloway)
