TORONTO, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened slightly higher on Thursday as the financial group, one of the harder hit areas in the previous session, rebounded after some upbeat news out of the U.S. banking sector.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 32.98 points, or 0.38 percent, to 8,721.34 at the open. Eight of the TSX's 10 sectors were higher. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
