TORONTO Jan 21 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index rose at the open on Wednesday as higher prices for oil, a key Canadian export, helped the weighty energy sector lead a rebound after a sharp loss in the previous session.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 87.44 points, or 1.03 percent, to 8,592.37. Eight of the TSX's 10 sectors were higher. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Peter Galloway)
