CANADA STOCKS-Oils, financials drive TSX sharply lower

TORONTO, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index slumped 3.2 percent on Thursday, driven by weakness in energy and financial shares, while economic news reinforced a sour tone.

The Toronto Stock Exchange S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 280.09 points at 8,477.80. All 10 of the index’s main groups were in the red. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Rob Wilson)
