CANADA STOCKS-Toronto index falls on oil, economic gloom

TORONTO, Jan 23 (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange’s main index opened lower on Friday, pulled down by a drop in the price of oil, profit concerns and more signs that added to the somber global economic picture.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE fell 57.93 points, or 0.68 percent, at 8,428.63. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
