TORONTO Feb 6 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index closed higher for a fourth straight session on Friday in a broad rally as dismal jobs data in Canada and the U.S. fueled hopes for a U.S. stimulus package to help stem the recession.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 159.26 points, or 1.8 percent, at 9,020.24. At one point, the index was up 2.7 percent, touching its highest level since Jan. 9. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; editing by Rob Wilson)
