CANADA STOCKS-TSX turns negative as materials drag

TORONTO, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index unraveled an early gain and turned negative by mid-afternoon on Monday as the influential materials group, home to gold mining shares, fell alongside gold prices.

At 2:46 p.m. (1946 GMT), the S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 1.21 points at 9,006.81, after rising as much as 1.59 percent earlier in the session. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Rob Wilson)
